About TKA

Since 1970, The King's Academy ("TKA") has provided education to families in South Florida who want excellence in academics, athletics, and the arts from a decidedly Christian worldview. Now serving students from preschool through 12th grade, TKA has remained true to its founding principles while daily seeking to grow and improve.

In 1969, a group of Christian families began to meet and pray about the need for a centrally-located, interdenominational Christian school to serve all of Palm Beach County, Florida. Dr. Kye Harris and Mr. William H. Vimont were enlisted as president and headmaster, respectively, to spearhead the efforts to begin a school.

Classes began in the fall of 1970 in rented space on the east end of Cherry Road in West Palm Beach, and the following year the school purchased the former Roger Dean estate, a 20-acre parcel at the west end of Cherry Road. The student body was comprised of 196 students from junior kindergarten through grade 11. In 1972, the school's first senior class graduated, and enrollment grew to more than 1,000 students within a few short years.

Beginning with Dr. Harris and Mr. Vimont, strong Christian leadership has been key to more than four decades of success at TKA. Since the school's inception, four presidents have overseen the day-to-day operations of the school: Dr. Harris (1970–74), M. Nelson Loveland (1974–99), Jeffrey M. Loveland (1999–2016), and Randal L. Martin (2016–present). Additionally, six chairs of the board of governors have served: M. Nelson Loveland (1970–74), Lloyd Prouty (1974-75), Stanley F. Frederick (1975–87), Gene Martin (1987–93), David Fiebig (1993-2006), and Clyde S. Meckstroth (2006–present).

From 1971 to 2005, the school continually improved its physical campus, adding athletic fields, a science wing, a cafeteria, and a multi-use gymnatorium. TKA's academic program, always a hallmark, allowed the school to earn its first National Blue Ribbon School designation from the US Department of Education in 1986.

In 2001, Palm Beach County purchased TKA's Cherry Road campus in order to remove the school from the flight path of Palm Beach International Airport. In August 2005, King's constructed a beautiful new 60-acre campus on the northeast corner of Belvedere Road and Sansbury's Way with almost 200,000 square feet of state-of-the-art facilities. Since this initial construction, the school has added the Full-Page Aquatic Center, a 13,000 square foot Events Center, and a 23,000 square foot Center for Performing Arts.

In 2014, the school earned its most recent National Blue Ribbon School designation, and in 2016, TKA's Conservatory of the Arts was recognized as a top-five program in the nation. In addition, TKA Lions athletic teams have won 110 district championships, 35 regional and conference titles, 10 state championships, and one national championship. King's student-athletes have also won individual state championships in golf, swimming, and track & field.

Today, more than 3,200 alumni have earned diplomas from The King's Academy, and current enrollment stands at almost 1,500 students including five The King's Academy Preschool locations. More information about The King's Academy is available at TKA.net.
